I'm Starting to Unravel
And it's a good thing... I think
I want to take this opportunity to introduce my followers and subscribers to my new publication, Ellrich Unraveling.
I’m not planning to import any subscribers from Brandon Ellrich is So Gay, because this publication isn’t going anywhere, and the vibe is completely different in the new one.
At Ellrich Unraveling, I’m publishing my original fiction and poetry, which I’ve been writing for years. I’ve had dreams of publishing a book of short stories and poems, but I’ve gone down the self-publishing route, and it’s a bumpy ride.
Traditional publishing would be awesome, but there’s a great deal of competition, and getting accepted is difficult if you’re not a celebrity. Rejection is part of the game, but this game isn’t fun anymore. After so many of them, one begins to feel defeated.
Emerson College is one of the top schools for writers, so I applied to their MFA in Creative Writing. I submitted a couple of pieces, including a short story, and I was accepted into the program. After careful consideration (including not wanting to go into debt), I chose not to go. However, the fact that I was accepted into this prestigious school was certainly a confidence-booster.
I’ll be sharing the story that prompted my acceptance with my paid subscribers in my new publication.
I’ve enjoyed writing satire and gay shit in my current publication, and I’ll continue to do that. But my fiction and poetry have been sitting around, collecting dust. They’re getting restless and have been demanding to be heard. So, before I’m killed in my sleep by a thousand papercuts from their pages, I’m letting them out of their archived prison.
My first free story will be published tomorrow, so please check it out. I already have one paid subscriber to Ellrich Unraveling, so I’m excited that it’s off to a promising start!
If you want to stick with only this publication, that’s completely fine. As I said, it’s not going anywhere.
But if you enjoy fiction and or poetry, please take a look at Ellrich Unraveling. Come get unraveled, tangled, and all kinds of fucked up with me.

Emerson!!!!???!!! That is seriously impressive!!!
I understand the mainstream publishing problem. Are you familiar with QueryTracker? It's a really good resource for finding agents. It's legit, they don't try to rip you off, the agents there are, generally legit, too. The policy of every agent there I've seen is no reading fees, which no legit agent will ask for. Each agent listing also has a comment area from other authors, usually about response time and such. Really good resource.
Their focus on their "lists" sort of drives me crazy, because I would prefer finding an agent who considers the overall lit market rather than their personal preferences, but I can only change the world so much (in other words, not at all).
Also, SubClub is a fantastic Substack for finding places to get published. Check them out if you aren't familiar with them. You can find independent book publishers there that don't require an agent.
If you ever want to commiserate about self-publishing, I've done it, so feel free to hit me up on Discord (I assume you know where to find me). You can probably find a channel on one of the Discords you're on to start a chat about it, too, so that others get involved.
