Topeka was a cool city. The streets were nice, the area was clean, and the people I encountered were friendly.
I even visited the Westboro Baptist Church, but didn’t go inside, of course. I’ll write more about that in my article on Wednesday.
The Pride Palooza’s venue was the Evergy Plaza. It was a square in the middle of downtown with a splash pad, a large stage, and several trees and benches around the perimeter.
For being only their second year, the crowd was a decent size with plenty of sponsors and vendors. My friend Allie attended with me and started as my camera operator. She had a crepe from a food truck, and it looked SO GOOD! The filling included cream, bananas, chocolate, and pecans.
After we had our fill of Pride Palooza, we headed down the street to Iron Rail Brewing. We had spinach dip with pita bread, and I had the SoCal Sandwich—chicken, sliced avocado, red onion, and bacon on a brioche bun with French fries (with Ranch Dressing for dipping, of course). It was delicious!
I’ll write more about my experience and post some pictures in Wednesday’s article.
